PREREQUISITE DOMAINS CHECKLIST

These prerequisites apply to RIA’s four pillar designations — Contents Loss Specialist (CLS), Environmental Risk Specialist (ERS), Fire Loss Specialist (FLS), and Water Loss Specialist (WLS). Once the Prerequisites below are met, or an alternate prerequisite is approved, learners are then eligible to sign up for the specific designation course. Designations are not awarded until the class exam and class report are approved.

DOMAIN 1: CORE PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES

Courses that provide foundational knowledge applicable across all specialties and designations.

5 Core Competency Classes equal to 100 hours of learning time.

  • FSRT

  • WRT

  • AMRT

  • OCT

  • OSHA 30

DOMAIN 2: PREREQUISITE COURSES

These are official RIA-developed courses that build a baseline technical understanding.

All classes are required for all pillar designations.

  • Contents Theory (5 CEC)

  • Project Management (13 CEC)

  • Building Construction and Science (13 CEC)

DOMAIN 3: DESIGNATION-SPECIFIC SPECIALTY COURSES

Tailored to the knowledge required for each specific pillar designation.

Required only for the corresponding designation.

  • Water Loss Specialist (WLS): ASD or CDS

  • Fire Loss Specialist (FLS): OSHA HAZWOPER (40)

  • Contents Specialist (CLS): UFT

  • Environmental Risk Specialist (ERS): OSHA HAZWOPER (40)

RECOMMENDED BUT NOT REQUIRED: FOR THOSE SEEKING MORE SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE
